Our second music compilation to accompany our second Pataphysical Vibrations Zine. The theme for this compilation was "roots music".
We created an open announcement for musicians to submit new or old works along this theme and "Summer in the Light and Winter in the Shade" was our result.
This compilation features all new music contributors. With the exception of the Broads (CA) all artists come from the Pacific Northwest. We were exceptionally pleased with the variation we received along this "roots music" theme. The word "roots" in regards to music might invoke imagery of ancient indigenous cultures, western traditional music (ie - folk or blues), or perhaps a process of creating from one's local environment. Indeed this compilation captures all of these concepts and much more. Give it a listen and hear the magic.

These tracks were taken from live performances at the Backyard "Seed-in", a community gathering of Northern California & Pacific Northwest artists, which took place in Seattle, WA on 11 July 2010--the day of a solar eclipse.
The purpose of this event was to promote both community and earth consciousness through both music, urban gardening, potluck, and positive vibrations. The event ended a week long "Seed - Memory" tour by Mountainhood, Bird by Snow, & I believe in Sunshine.
The event was a spectacular success despite preceding tension between our neighbors. Peace was won and War was abolished.

The Water Knows the Way & Other Confessions – is a collection of songs which document the birth and growth of songwriter and producer Jonathan Deschamps' pet recording project I believe in Sunshine over the first ten years of its conception (2000-2010). "When I first began writing and recording these songs, I was 17 years old & I really had no concept of how music worked, how to play it, or how to record it. I’ve learned everything I know through experimentation & through the inspiration of others." Each recording on this collection represents a learning/growing experience, a time & space, a story/memory & were never originally intended to be shared with the public. In other words this is about as intimate a listening experience as one may get.
